Serbian to play cello in Bond movie

30 Aug

In expectation to see one of the latest James Bond franchise pieces to be shot in Serbia, a domestic artist has been given a chance to join the crew of the 23rd instalment of the cult film series. Cello player Jelena Mihailovic is the first Serbian to have been part of a Bond flick, as she has been hired to write the original score for the film.

Mihailovic will join the list of music acts who have contributed to the unavoidable opening song for a 007 agent film, such as Paul McCartney, Madonna, Alicia Keys, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Duran Duran and the rest.

As it often helps with major career breaks such as this one, Jelena was in the right place at the right time.

At one of the many concerts the musician held in France during the Cannes Film Festival, the producers and the director of the next Bond film were in the audience, who were staggered by what they had heard and on the spot offered Jelena a chance to write the opening score for the new James Bond film, entitled Carte Blanche.

Although the 23rd James Bond film is still in its early production phase, when it comes to the music, Jelena reveals her opening score will be a mixture of the recognisable Bond theme sound and a more classical touch. What has been confirmed regarding the film is that lead actor Daniel Craig, in the role of James Bond once again, will be joined by Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, as well as a recurring performance by Judi Dench as M.

Javier Bardem ‘confirmed’ for Bond 23 villain role by German movie sites.

According to several German movie news websites, Spanish actor Javier Bardem has been ‘confirmed’ as playing a villain in the 23rd James Bond film. All German language news sites carrying the story reference a statement from ‘Sony Pictures Releasing’, which at the time of writing, cannot be substantiated.

The news was wedged in with an announcement that his latest film, ”Biutiful”, will be released on DVD in Europe on 13th October 2011.

Bardem, who won an Oscar for his performance in 2008’s ”No Country For Old Me”, has long been rumoured for the Bond 23 role. Recently, his involvement looked uncertain due to him landing the lead in the ”Dark Tower” franchise, but that has since been put on ice.

If Bardem’s casting is finalized, expect an official (English-language) statement shortly.

James Bond 23 movie may be delayed until next year…

26 Aug

FILMING of the next James Bond movie may be delayed until next year in a new production blow.

It had already been on hold throughout last year because of film studio MGM’s financial troubles.

Now a health and safety dispute in India, where key stunt scenes were due to be shot, has forced another halt.

Production of the latest spy instalment, known by the working title Bond 23, was due to begin this autumn and 007 actor Daniel Craig was supposed to jet out to the set in India with other stars soon.

But a wrangle with authorities there over permission to film Craig, 43, in high-speed railway stunts has left director Sam Mendes hunting alternative locations. Filming could be moved to South Africa, where producers already have permission to shoot some scenes, but this may not be until January

DUSAN POPOV Serbian double-agent, known also as ‘Tricycle’ … was the codename of DUSAN DUSKO POPOV a serbian agent working for MI5.

A number of real-life inspirations have been suggested for James Bond, the sophisticated fictional character and British spy created by Ian Fleming. Although the Bond stories were often fantasy-driven, they did incorporate some real places, incidents and, occasionally, organisations such as SMERSH

”I had no grand plan. Everyone talks about how they knew the Bond films were going to be a success, but it simply isn’t true.”

Thomas Sean Connery was born in the bustling city of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1930 to Joseph and Euphamia Connery. As the oldest of three, Sean was born into a working class family living on the docks where family-members worked all hours of the day to bring up the boys. Sean was educated in a public school but dropped out at a young age and joined the full time workforce as a teen.

His first job out of school was as a milkman, then at the young age of 16, he enrolled in the Navy where he received his patriotic tattoos like many of his peers. He spent three years in the armed forces where he was kept at a high level of fitness. At the end of his third year in the forces he was released from the services and returned to his city of birth to try his hand in various labour-based career paths including bricklaying, truck driving, and even as a coffin pusher for an undertaker.

His work in these labouring roles left Connery with an impressive physique. This, and perhaps a stroke of happenstance, lead him to his entry in 1950 Mr. Universe competition. In the event Connery beat out a variety of professional male models to win third place.

With a spark of fame and very little of a career elsewhere, the modeling path proved successful for Connery. He quickly won a place in the touring cast of Rogers and Hammerstein’s ”South Pacific”, after attending an audition on advice of fellow Mr. Universe competitor Johnny Isaacs. The aspiring model and actor spent several years on the stage before his television debut in 1956.
