The most popular song for the first dance at weddings, nr 3 Louis Armstrong – We Have All the Time in the World

19 Feb

Bryan Adams’ hit Everything I Do is the most popular song for the first dance at weddings, a survey has revealed.

The song, which was number one in the UK for a record 16 weeks in 1991, was the first choice of 5% of newlyweds.

The Carpenters came second with Close to You getting 3.9% of votes, followed by Louis Armstrong’s We Have All the Time in the World.

But 4% of those quizzed for the Lloyds TSB poll could not remember which song their first dance had been to.

The poll, conducted to coincide with Saturday’s marriage of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, also found 3% did not have a traditional first dance.

Rod Stewart’s Have I Told You Lately tied for fourth place with Sir Elton John’s Your Song.

More unusual choices included Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell and Aerosmith I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing, from the Armageddon soundtrack.

”This poll shows just how personal and emotional our musical choices are and demonstrates the important role music plays in all our lives,” Lloyds TSB’s Yasmin Hughes said.

”Clearly, our tastes vary wildly with even Meatloaf bringing a tear to the eye.”
