Bond composer John Barry dies aged 77. 31 January 2011

Composer John Barry, famous for his work on Born Free, Out of Africa and the James Bond films, has died in New York of a heart attack aged 77.

Born John Barry Prendergast in 1933, the York-born musician first found fame as leader of the John Barry Seven.

His arrangement of Monty Norman’s James Bond theme led to him composing scores for 11 films in the series, among them Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice.

His work saw him win five Oscars, while he received a Bafta fellowship in 2005.

His most recent film score featured in the 2001 war thriller Enigma, while a musical version of Brighton Rock, created with lyricist Don Black, had its London premiere in 2004.

Dame Judi Dench to return as M in new James Bond film

 Actress Dame Judi Dench has revealed she will return to play head of MI6, M, in the new James Bond film, which will also see Daniel Craig reprise his role as the British spy for a third time.

Dame Judi also advised Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush, Oscar-nominated for their roles in The King’s Speech, that the best way to get through the six-hour ceremony was to ”keep nudging people”.

After severe delays amid uncertainty over film studio MGM’s future, the 23rd Bond film, directed by Sam Mendes, is set to be released in November 2012.

Bond’s Ericsson-controlled BMW 750i TND comes to life – with Nokia C7

 Remember watching James Bond control a BMW 750 i from Tomorrow Never Dies 1997 using his Ericsson mobile phone? Anyone who has ever played with a remote-control car might have dreamt of this moment – driving a real BMW down the road using his or her smartphone.

Now, two Chinese coders have achieved what James Bond fans could only dream of 13 years ago.

An Jiaxuan and his friend have developed an application that allows users to drive a BMW with a Nokia C7, reports News.com.au.

What is crazy is that they achieved this feat in just 20 days of programming and testing.

They tested the programme on several smaller projects like a toy, an air conditioner and a camera before attempting it on a BMW.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Nokia in Australia has confirmed that the pair worked on the project with the help of the Nokia China Activation team at the end of last year.

What the Chinese dudes have achieved is much closer to the James Bond reality – a system that’s integrated the remote control mechanism into the car itself. (ANI)

Många tror att det är kul grej för honom men för han handlade det namntillägget om att känna närhet till sin pappa som försvann när han var två år. Jag tycker att många som vet om namnet James Bond. Det heter av en film och det är namn av actionhjälte namn. Jag tänker att det var fint namn och det är bra att han försökte att söka sin far efter hans far har försvunnit. Jag tänker att det är bra att alla har ett namn men människor borde inte bedöma med namnet. Det borde beror på hur man är och hur kunskaper man har som kan bedöma. Jag tycker att det ska rättvisa för alla i alla samhälle.

– Jag kan definitivt tänka mig James Bond komma i en sådan båt till en exklusiv fest någonstans på Rivieran och jag tror att vem som helst av mina sju Bond brudar skulle ha älskat det också! skryter den erfarna skådespelare.

James Bond book author Jeffery Deaver, will be called Carte Blanche.

The new James Bond book, written by thriller author Jeffery Deaver, will be called Carte Blanche. The title and cover were unveiled in Dubai where parts of the book are set. US writer Deaver said the novel – to be published in the UK on 26 May – posed ”the looming question of what is acceptable” in security matters. Sebastian Faulks and John Gardner are among other authors to have written officially-sanctioned Bond novels since creator Ian Fleming’s death in 1964.
