Not-so-secret agent Judi Dench reveals the filming date of the next James Bond film
It’s probably just as well that Judi Dench doesn’t actually run M16 as she clearly finds it difficult to keep a secret.
The actress has revealed when filming is due to resume on the next James Bond blockbuster, in which she will reprise her role as MI6 boss M.
According to the Sunday Express, Dame Judi, 76, let slip the filming start date during a public appointment last week at Hever Castle in Kent.
After planting a rose bred especially for the castle’s gardens, she spoke to reporters and said: ‘I am going to do the next Bond in November.
‘I don’t know the location yet but hopefully it will be somewhere nice. I can’t tell you much more but I do enjoy playing ‘M’ as she is such a strong character.
‘I like being bossy and my grandson thinks its cool that I’m in Bond.’
Dame Judi has played M six times before, starting her role in the franchise alongside Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye in 1995.
She the teamed up with new Bond Daniel Craig in 2006 for Casino Royale in 2006 and will be reprising her role again for the upcoming film, Bond 23.
In April last year, Bond 23 – the 23rd in the series and Craig’s third – was suspendedindefinitely due to the crippling debt and uncertain future of production company MGM.
But Craig and Sam Mendes, who will be directing and the film is now due for release in November 2012.
Dame Judi was asked to plant the rose at the castle which she chose as the setting for a Visit Britain video.
She said: ‘It’s a wonderful place. I have lived around here for 26 years and Hever was one of the first places we came for a picnic. It is unspoilt and quintessentially English.’
